House & Life Updates

We finally got moved out of the apartment (finished the cleanup on the 16th, rather than the 14th, as was scheduled. might lose part of our deposit for that, but shouldn't be a lot). The landlord is definitely going to try to screw us out of all of it - so we took about a ton of pictures and the lawyer is ready to go. In other news, we have concluded that we have entirely too much crap, and as we unpack boxes in the new house, we will be throwing vast amounts of it out.

The house is supposed to close, now, on Monday. This means we have to reschedule our movers. They don't have anything earlier than the first week in Sept (not that far away, I know...but far enough). In the meantime, we're staying in a spare room at the Troll's parents house (the two of us plus all 5 cats). It's been perfectly pleasant, but I am DYING to get back into a space that is my own. We'll probably move the futon, ourselves, cats & essentials Monday after closing. We won't have internet access right away ('cause we waited too long to get it set up), but all the other utilities should be good to go.

Thursday, Jeebee figured out that there were dogs on the other side of the door, and had a freakout/flashback kind of thing. To stop him from hurting himself or the other cats, I grabbed him - and got thoroughly chomped. Went Saturday morning to get antibiotics for swollen, awful, infected bites, which are now healing well and itching like mad. I had intended to take pictures of the gruesome to post here, but with the wedding trip and all, time got away from me. They're not nearly so impressive now.

Saturday evening, we piled into the car and headed up to the Catskills for a wedding on Sunday (it was held here, which I highly recommend. It's spacious, pleasant, well-staffed - and the food was delicious). The trip, the hotel (we stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in Newburgh), and the wedding (and reception) were all lovely. It was a nice getaway in the midst of all the upheaval, and good to see friends that we don't get to see often.

In my spare time, I've been playing a lot of Scrabulous on Facebook, and am reading HP & the Order of the Phoenix (I read HBP shortly after it came out, at my dad's in Texas - just got around to this one). Now I'll have to read HBP again, so that I have better context - and eventually I'm sure I'll get around to DH.
