Update

Holiday feasting was marvelous; we went to the Troll's parents' for Thursday*, and created our own feast (just the two of us) here on Saturday (picture below). We also managed to give the kitchen something of a spring cleaning in the process; I am so deeply satisfied with the results of the whole holiday thang that I may institute regular holiday feasts for different seasons. Probably on a equinox/solstice calendar. Food/theme ideas welcome.

Now we are experiencing the great joy of leftovers. Leftovers are probably my favorite part of this particular feast holiday. Which is a wonderful thing, because it appears that I am constitutionally incapable of selecting a turkey smaller than 20lbs, or of making stuffing for fewer than a dozen people.

Tuesday before the holiday, we made a trip to the nearest DSW shoe store so I could try on some Franco Sarto boots to see how they fit me. My conclusion is that I can probably get away with the half-size smaller than my usual, in this particular style of boot. So, I'm going to buy the ones I found at eBay Express. I'm ridiculously excited. I also have found two alternative boots** that would also work for me, in case these really just don't fit. YAY!

That same day, we did the bulk of holiday shopping for the Troll's family. Holiday shopping is something he stresses about (and I dislike shopping in general, unless it's online), so this is especially excellent. Also, we got mad deals on everything. I'll be wrapping the stuff in the next week or so to get it ready for him to take to his folks on the 24th; it looks like I'll be in NYC dogsitting for the gift holiday proper.

While I skipped NaNoWriMo this year (rather than join and fail to write anything, yet again), I *have* signed up for Secret Slasha again, and I'm excited to get my assignment. I enjoyed it last year (it was a real challenge), and the recipient really liked it, so I've got a good feeling going into it. My assignment should arrive today (squeee!).

Also, I'm feeling writey in general. I've been focusing a lot more the past few days on a particular story idea that's been kicking around my head for a couple of years, and may well do some writing on that, too! If that happens, it'll be a writer's block (going on 5 years, now) breakthrough of major proportions. Troll keeps telling me that he expects that once I finally *do* start writing again, that the pages will just spew out of me like a water-main break, because I'm always telling him about ideas or characters or settings, and have so many built up, waiting. One can hope.

And I do.

In other news, I'm on the second week of this Shangri-la diet thing. Sunday to Sunday last week, I lost 3 lbs. Given that it was a holiday feast week, and that I'm only aiming for 2 lbs a week (my overall goal is to have lost 70 lbs - or be back to size 7/8 - by this time next year), I'm tentatively thrilled. Tentatively, because I won't actually believe it's working until I've had 3 or 4 weeks of steady, consistent results. 'cause 3 lbs? Could be a water fluctuation, really. 15, on the other hand, not so much.

So everything is looking pretty good from here. Here's hoping it's looking good from your perspectives, too.

*I'm pretty sure Troll's mom loves me; she made gluten-free bread for me - it was the closest to real bread that I've yet experienced! Also, she makes one turkey with no stuffing (no contamination!) and one with. Sadly, I managed to inadvertantly poison myself with wheat anyway during the meal. It's been a long time since I've done that unknowingly, without warning, and it really made me realize what a huge help ibuprofen + zantac can be!

**In case anyone has missed this, I'm in search of boots to go with my brown coat, for Firefly-type costumery (which, handily, is also suitable for RL daily wear).
