car Saturday morning, and proceeded to run errands like mad people.
Along the way, we stopped at JoMar for $1/yd fabric...ostensibly, because I want to create this for WorldCon in August...but I want to make a cheap mock-up of it first, since my sewing skills are so new & untried.
Well, I got my $1/yd fabric for that dress. Meanwhile, from across the aisles, this horrid acid-green fabric called to me. "I'm only *$2/yd*", it cried piteously. "No one else will love me!"
I caved. You see, I had already decided that I was going to be making a few corset/bodice (no bones) types of thing out of various stuff I have around. Using this pattern. As a simple, repetitive, practice sort of thing, ya know?
Well, one of the fabrics I'd been planning to use is an ugly orange brocade, with uglier acid green undertones. So I decided to make the whole gown to go with the bodice. In horrible, acid green, $2/yd fabric. It's going to be stunning (and I mean that literally).
Possible pictures on completion.
