In other news, I'm watching a very cool show at the moment: Cathedral Cranes (yes, I'm a geek). It's part of a program on the Science Channel called Ancient Arsenal (Tivo'd weeks ago). A modern-day team is attempting to build a several-tons solid green-oak crane, like the ones that are suspected* to have been used to build some of the huge medieval cathedrals in the first place. They're using primarily the same primitive techniques that were probably used at the time. It's fascinating.
*there are artists renderings of several types of cranes, but not enough written documentation or remains to prove (at least to these builders) that they really existed. Realistically, they pretty much had to exist though, unless the cathedrals were built by aliens.
