Zubrin/Case for Mars

I've been reading the Robert Zubrin/Richard Wagner book The Case for Mars (subtitled: The Plan to Settle the Red Planet & Why we Must)...and I'm finding myself increasingly frustrated, in the light of Zubrin's assertions, at the fact that we're not there yet!

Space fans, scientists, those among you who've read the book and/or have an opinion on the matter... I pose you these questions:

-What are the weaknesses in Zubrin's arguments?

-What other/better plans are in the works?

-Is there any (financial) profit likely to be made by sending people to Mars? I know that there is purportedly Deuterium in large quantities, but is it worth the costs of mining it & shipping it back to Earth?

-Would you go (for a 2 year or more on-planet mission, plus travel time)?

-What is the freaking hold up in getting a human mission to Mars started?
